After recent failures on coseley canal (by the school) i have been trying around the locks by the barge and barrel pub, had a nice day down there and caught quite a few small roach, good days fishing.
Today i had some free time so decided to go down again but this time a little further up past where the canal boats are moored, landed my first perch from the canal and all decent size!
i would recommend this spot, was a bite a cast even though they were shy bites but plenty going on there.
on this occasion i was using maggot on 12ft waggler rod and small float with size 18 hook (my whip is only 4 metres and wouldnt reach the sweet spot for the bigger fish)

Go further down by the mosque, it's full of tench, bream and Rudd.
Matches are usually won with 50lb+ in summer.

Down under the locks, past the train station then anywhere past the boatyard

went down by the boatyard sunday and it wasnt that good at all, a lot of people fishing down there too.
went back to the same spot from this post and it was almost instant bite a chuck, caught plenty of roach and perch, then another guy joined me and he was catching the same and also landed a 3-4lb tench, both of us were on maggot, think this will be a regular spot for me.
its also good because you hardly get anyone go down that way, just the odd cyclist or jogger, if you are not after a competition bag and just want some good relaxation and catch plenty then this is the spot i would recommend.
this is the 5th time i have been there and every single time its a good days fishing without fail in this spot.

Find more hotspots, that possibly aint been fished before?
is that possible?
exploring is limited due to having no transport.
