Simple Match Fishing Forum

Topic of conversation at work today was how impressive Athletic Bilbao were over 2 legs versus United and how the strict politics of the club and that region of Spain work ie only basque region players or foreign players with basque ancestry can play for athletico Bilbao ..... a very proud and passionate region.

Anyone any thoughts on the subject ?

and so it should be!!! too many rubbish overseas players over here,which imo has put english football backwards and not forward like they said it would!!

dodge a lad from here went to the match 6am flight from Manchester delayed for 5 hrs ::) but when they arrived he said it was the nicest atmosphere he'd ever been to and he goes to loads of away matches
he said at the end of the match the home fans stood either side of the road and clapped them as they walked by really friendly

That's cos they probably wish they cud play mediocre Prem league teams like Man u every week

My fav spanish team always had a soft spot for since we played them in 98 best fans ive ever met

I lived in spain for 8 years, lot of conflict between that region and the rest of spain, not that different to the IRA and England....their IRA is called ETA and they are extremely passionate people who simply want their territory back as their own but unfortunately they plant bombs around spain, i was unlucky enough to be working 100 metres down the road when one blew a huge hole out of a hotel....oddly, i was cooking fish at the time so relates to here somewhat..

beautiful place but they are careful who they let in.
