Yale own 25 sets of spring scales, pictured below.
All we ask is for the new members to bring to each match a pair of tights to act as a weigh purse.
I've had carp upto 8lb in a single leg and about two skimmer's and a couple of tench in the other leg without any snagging or bobbling.
Once you have your fish in the tights you walk down the bank with scales and tights held aloft and show the guy on the next peg. Who then verifies your weight.
Now word of warning, perch are not to be weighed using this method, they have a nasty habit of smelling the fabric and getting aroused leading to them raising their dorsal fin and cutting the legs clean off your stockings.
Then all you have is a Perch flapping around on the floor that looks like he is ready to rob a bank. This is not a pretty sight!
Don't worry we will be on hand to see how you get on. Good luck and don't forget to hand the scales AND the tights in at the end of the match

This is surely not right. The tights should not be handed in at the end as they belong to the angler not the Yale club. Anyway if the angler blanks they can be worn during the week( or given back to the wife) and reused at the next match.

That used to be the case Dave but we found members stitching in SSG weight's into the toe area in order to gain some extra drams. This as I'm sure you will agree is unacceptable.
By handing them in after the match we get a chance to wear check them through the week.

Once I have un-stitched all the offending SGG I sell them on ebay as "Worn in" tights. This helps us fund the club so we can book top notch fisheries.

We adopt the same rules Sprucey. However in our case the last time anyone was troubled to fetch the scales during a match was back in 1976
SS - don't know how you dream em up

When Cashmores tried it, the fish kept escaping from the tights. Perhaps we shouldn't have used those crotchless ones !!

A thought just occured to me when reading these posts. I think my wife has secretly been going fishing without my knowledge, so I checked the laundry basket while she was out. Yes, that explains why why her tights smell so "fishy!"
