great christmas match at barston

many many thanks to nigel the time and effert must of taken sometime to organise ,i joined 50 anglers that i had never met before and i now have 50 more friends a real change not to hear any moaning.not too sure about rovers as its the first one i have ever fished so i didn't really now what pegs you needed still it was different i drew 21 in the rover giving me 21st choice very tence when the table still has quite a few pegs on it to choice from i opted for 32
the match had some real ups and downs for me but one thing is for sure i really enjoyed punchingthe method out its something i don't really do but i must say it when in the same place and i felt if the carp were going to have a go i'd of hooked some but after hour i hadn't seen a carp just a chub came along still my back up plan was to feed B/J AT 13m
as all the anglers around me hadn't put too much time on the pole line and i was soon into small roach one a chuke although i knew this wasn't going to win the match at least a days fishing would be on the cards i could anything i liked and by feeding often i was soon into skimmers and bigger roach .all around me no one could really catch but most were sitting it out for carp
i thought to myself that a weight was on the cards until the wind dropped ,not just dropped it was like a sheet of glass and a long with it the fish turned very iffey
in the end i probably had to have 20inches on the bottom to get a bite why 20in i couldn't tell you but put any less i'd not get a bite
i weighed 25lb at the end of the match but a great days fishing i think i ended up 10th in the match with that not bad for a natural venue angler[that could be turning to the darkside if we have more silverfish matches]
back at the fantatic club house we all sat down for what i can say ,was the best christmas dinner i have had [apart from the tank commanders]she checks my spelling sometimes] and pudding
nigel then did the prize giving it was a real treat plenty of banter and laughing [something a lot of anglers have forgotten] when i left to dive home i said to myself what a great day
now for the BUT!!! I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY OTHER MATCHES IN THE AREA DON'TGET TOGETHER AND PLAN AROUND THIS ANNUAL EVENT NIGEL HAS RUN THIS CHRISTMAS MATCH FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS THERE IS NO EXCUSES !!! annual one off matches are disappearing i should know we used to have a fur and feather with 100+ every year and because you didn't win money just prizes its all but finished where is the christmas spirit gone
get yourselfs together please before its too late this match is once a year get yourselfs booked on it for next year early and chance your calenders so it dosen't clash
ps well done lee edwards 44lb hope my maggots helped
