Visitor- Brought a Smile

So… I plonked myself down … on a local commie, to try a couple of things out.
And wouldn’t you know it, no sooner done,
than he comes round for a chat “ gonna have a go are ya ?”
Why do I attract them ?
Just wanted a quiet few minutes, didn’t even notice he was there.
I mumbled on about not really fishing, just gonna try a couple of things out.
Must have stirred his interest as he was watching me like a hawk. Not a word being said.
I cast along the length of the pool cos there wasn’t enough room opposite, to try the rod out.
No bait on the hook.
He must have thought I’ve got a right nutter here.
Watching my every move, no words were exchanged as I sloshed me paste about in the tub, aware of the eyes over me shoulder.
There I am, experimenting with no shot, just paste, straight out in front, with just the eyes over me shoulder and silence for company.
Jeeze, will he ever go.
Nothing doin out there, so drops in the margin and bang ! Small Chub.. 'bout 10oz
Back out, wallop ! Another small chub, Bang Bang Bang.. more small chub.
Peas from a pod.
Eh mate, it’s the same one !
No it ain’t I says and carries on.
Ere…leave it in yer landin net and we’ll know then
Nooo.. I says and carries on starin’ at me float.
Bang bang, on it goes.
Ere… put some tippex on it’s ‘ed then we’ll know
Ohhhhh … I had to chuckle… but needless to say declined.
Then goes on to tell me, the anaemic looking chub I’d been catching were grass carp, on and on about it he was. Even got me doubting myself, more so now with the passage of time
Funny that, how you can become unsure, if what you think you saw, you actually did see,
as time passes, isn’t it ?
Then finally, his defining quote…. Blimey he says, it ain’t growd much since you last caught it !
Next time I turned round , he’d gawn.
