Bit late with this ‘report’, but here goes for the record.............

With info that there were 30 odd pegs on the pool, but in reality a max of 24/25, a few days to go I was getting a little ‘concerned’ that we’d had no casualties and I’d got a couple of guests requests that I’d all but aborted.

However I needn’t have ‘worried’ about things as in the last few days a massive casualty list – unusual for a ‘commie’ - was established with 11 sick notes handed in and a further ‘missing’ member on the morning

Arriving at the venue with new travelling buddy Goldenballs, initial impressions were of a pleasant fishery, with very few regulations in place – barbless, two nets and g/b in cups or feeder only being the only restrictions I was made aware of.

A bite to eat at the on site cafe and off to ‘The Moat’ for the draw as Big Baz had pegged out.

We were well done on usual attendances for a ‘commie’ with just the 19 of us, 17 members and two guests Goldenballs and NCC.

Draw made and I found myself of peg 8 the ‘northern side of the pool’ with 10 pegs put in either side.

Pole was set up along with a virgin outing for the Shakie pellet waggler rod I purchased late last year after receiving plenty of informative guidance on the subject from Mugger.

Armed with info of a sunken island down the middle at between 12 and 16 mtrs, my last minute plans had changed slightly from just a pellet and corn approach, following late info that it was stuffed with silvers. Just up my street, although carp were always gunna win.

Looking about, Big Baz was on a flyer in the corner opposite

A couple of pegs away to the corner to my left

Somebody coming for a ‘nosy’

Whilst across on the opposite bank

On peg 8 the problem was the bottom of the sunken island was at 13 mtrs and you need the 16 to be on top of it.’Sod that’ I thought to myself, I’ll chuck the waggler to it.

So on the off, a line at 13 mtrs was fed, along with 6 mtrs and either sides. I started on the wag, feeding pellet, but with a couple of mags on. Nowt, but Mugger moments.

I couldn’t see many doing owt. After 10 mins or so I looked on the long line. A bite after a few mins..........the no 12 lackie screamed out as the fish shot to my right......................but it came off after a second or two.

Coming back it was obviously a foul hooker as a big scale was impaled on my hook.

Well despite it being a pleasant place..............it was a bit too quiet for me.

Those promised silvers didn’t materialise – just couldn’t get ‘em going.

Meanwhile this geezer was having a few

Image

And Dead Peg did too..............

Image

In fact I suspected the gods were looking down favourably on Terry Turnip when nearing the end as he got ready to net his umpteenth fish the hook pulled, rig shot up in the air, but he still managed to net the crap that floundered on the surface.......

I obviously ‘congratulated’ him on his prowess and technique

Image

Walking back to my peg I reflected on my day...........

Image

TBH, rather have been up the cut...................as I finished up with a crucian about lb, 3 craps about 4lb a piece and 2lb of bits. NCC next to me had also struggled but avoided the dreaded dry un with a ‘late’ crap on the method, whilst Zorro to my left had a late run of tincas close in down the side to avoid a grueller

The all out and here’s KOD striking a pose

Image

And Terry Turnip about to trouble the scales..............but had he done enough?

Image

Image

So onto the tale of the scales and who did what from where

North Side of Pool
1 KOD 7.14.0
2 HOTLIPS DNW his two bits
3 R DOUGLISS 6.4.0
4 DEAD PEG 31.2.0
5 BRAMBLES 13.12.0
6 TERRY TURNIP 51.4.0
7 N C C DNW his carp
8 TK 14.7.0
9 D JEFFERY 15.11.0
10 R CASHMORE 29.10.0 incl a fish of 10.13.0

16 COTTI 20.9.0
17 MR V 12.4.0
18 GOLDEN BALLS 47.8.0

So 4 matches down in the 2011 series, each with a differing face on the winner’s podium – at least the trophies are being evenly distributed again for the presentation night

crappity smack hell, I thought Id been hard done to, being press ganged into moving boxes, by the sounds of it, the liquid lunch with steak that she bought me was the better option on the day. Had the same toil again yesterday... she who must be obeyed was slightly miffed to be told enough is enough, next week Im fishing.... Image 8-) ;) Image

Nice report and photos TK. Image

Image 10 minutes is hardly long enough to give the pellet wag a go for TK, especially with a couple of maggots. Image
Having said that it looked perfect for it at Hartleylands on Saturday, but for some reason the fish didn't want it up in the water. Image

I know Mugger Image

Mind, that was probably just a figure of speech........it was probably more like 12 minutes :D

Just thought with a 'silver stuffed pool' I'd pick up a few bits and pieces starting on the mag, before emptying it on the pellet Image
