Fancy A Shot At The UK Champs? - 25/03/2011
Following the success of last year’s high-profile Preston Innovations-sponsored UK Angling Championship, the organising team has now announced the dates for the 2011 series.
The tournament, which operates over four rounds and features some of the biggest names in the sport, is proving so popular that two 80-peg qualifiers are being scheduled to give more anglers a chance to compete. The 2010 event, which saw Grant Albutt come out on top after an exciting last match, was covered by Sky Sports and televised in the autumn, and co-organiser Rob Hughes has already secured the TV contracts for 2011. “The feedback we got from the series was excellent, and to have Sky Sports along to cover the matches was the icing on the cake. Last year was great and I’m sure that 2011 will be even more exciting.”
The 80-peg matches will be held at four of the UK’s top match venues – Lindholme Lakes, Colemans Cottage, Woodland View and Barston Lakes – between May and August. The top 40 from last year’s event automatically qualify for entry this year and the remaining 40 places will be allocated through two 80-peg qualifiers held at Barston in May.
Anglers wishing to compete in the 2011 event are advised to log on to the UKAC website at nharrhy@aol.com.
