Simple Match Fishing Forum

in my younger years i used to travel with a group of anglers from ALREWAS they only fished the canals and fish the bread and they had a differant method for each canal . One angler and think Bill would have known him Vic Carthey from Armitage no poles in them days just 12 ft rod and small centerpin reel he was so good he could land it on a sixpence . But he used to use flaKE ONLY very small bits on the WORC CANAL he was unbeatable great bags of fish he didnot use the punch much and his bread feed was different to it was like horses for courses you mite say .great canal man

To name a few top punch / Bread blokes I have ever seen ( I know there's more like Fred and co from staffs area but I have not seen them fish, due to my time on that circuit(25 years ago !) as I mainly fished T & M, Cov canal and later Erewash.)

I well remember Vic Carthy, he had a brother as well. Descendants still have the tackle shop at Armitage.
