Fished here many times Joffie  :D First few years the factory was still open and pumping offal into the river  :-/ But by god were there some big roach and dace in there.  Image
At times it became like the power station stretch at Lanesborough....if you werent on the pegs by first light you had to fish away from it. Even when the factory closed, it was still a brilliant strectch on the right tide. Also fished the hospital stretch where Bill mentions, think it was between Fermoy and Lismore. Saw my first ever wild otter there  ;)
I can recall a match on there once and my mate drew opposite a large willow tree. He was having Roach and Dace a chuck on the waggler. Half way through the match, an old chap comes chugging down the river in what looked like a bathtub powered by a liquidiser. Despite my mates protests, he ties it up to the tree and dangles a bunch of prawns over the side with a rod as thick as a broom handle.  :o The bait wasnt in 2 minutes when all hell broke loose and he hooked a Salmon. After a 5 minute tussle, he skull dragged a double figure fish into the boat, untied the boat and set off down river laughing his head off  :-/
My mate never had another bite, weighed a tad over 18lb and was first out the money by a few ounces. 23lb won the match!!   Image
