final round of the sensas summer league

the last round of the sensas summer league couldn't of come round quick enough its been a tough series with the years financial problems and getting anglers to fish its been hard work
its a great shame that a lot of anglers can't commit to team fishing anymore and believe me i would think all the team captains have had enough :-/and now we are straight in to the winter league :-[with one or two teams short before they start its not looking good
the final round is always fished on the river as its good practice for the winter league as most of the sections are used
i finished work Saturday dinner and loaded up the van 2dogs and two kids and off we went pegging out rob jones had volunteered to do two sections leaving me to do the last four
on arrival at the natural river it was apparent that with the river being very low and clear and the lack of cold weather the weed in the river was a massive problem and i struggled to get what are normally good pegs in
i think we finished pegging the 36 pegs at about 6pm and bye that time i'd had a belly full of it
i then took the kids to mcdonalds to try and get some brownie points as they really did have it on them
from there back home sorted all the scales weigh sheets and team sheet and then it was time to get the tackle ready
come the morning iwas looking forward to the match but i knew that some anglers would be horrified at some of the pegs but its a natural venue i'd cut pegs out cleared weed but most of the river hadn't seen a angler since the last round and the weed had grown even more
i'm sure the seasons have changed and perhaps we should fish the river a month later when the weed has dyed back
i'd organised parking that cut a lot of walks down i'd even drawn maps to help angler cut down there walks everything i could think of to get anglers interested in fishing the river again
and WHAT A WASTE OF TIME ALL THAT WAS
after arriving at my section i met the same old loudmouth shouting there heads off about the pegs most just got on with it but two one of which is in my team >:(carried on throwing it at me i'm thick skinned but i did think to myself enough's enough i just walked off and fished my peg which was also full of weed i ended up with 3lb of roach and lost a chub at the death with about 10 rambles behind me which finish off the day nicely
i also had drawn the scales so i knew i was in for a hard time but funny enough it had fish quite well at the other end of the section and my 3lb was only good enough for 5th in the section
BUT SURPRISE SURPRICE who put11lb 8oz on the scales and won the match yes you guest the voice of NOTTINGHAMSHIRE mark gobfrey what a moment when the humble pie started to flow from his mouth in fact it lasted until we got back to vans
