A few bream in the Pound,

After a tip off, I fished a local canal pound yesterday, just to get away from it all for a bit really. New venue to me.

It took 40 mins for first fish.  Then had 10 bream in just over two hours without trying too hard on six sections of pole, before packing up due to lack of time with the fish still coming. Couple of small ones about a pound and a half, with the rest going to 4lb.

What struck me when I looked in my net was, what a red letter day that would have been for me in the days before commercials. In fact, it still is of course.

It's just that, i'd have been delerious back then, while now I can appreciate it, but its just not the same somehow.

It's not aften I catch really well on natural waters and had I stayed it could have been a much bigger catch.

Or maybe not, but I like to think so!

As its only a small place, I'm not going to broadcast it just now, but it really was a day to stand out and would have ranked alongside two or three other days that stood out over quite a few years, before the fish stuffed ponds I often fish now.

Just about 2 and a half feet deep, i'd have one and spook them. Then wait a bit for another. All on pellet. Caster in comparison, on a another line not producing except for a couple of bits.

Might have another go  :D

Nice one MarkV Image

I'm sure that 'appreciation' of the catch will grow on you over the coming days........ 8-)

Just goes to show how 'spoilt' we have become.

People are not happy now unless they weigh in 100lb and will only visit venues that can produce that sort of weight. Shame.

Of course it is all down to horses for courses but catching even the 1 1/2lb bream on appropriate tackle is fun. When geared up with No. 16 elastics they are just 'nuisance' fish!

Sounds like half of the Cashmores crew lol. It is a shame. There are still loads of places out there where some "proper fishing" can be had, and the beauty of it all, being a tight arsed Yorkie, they dont cost £6 a peg Image

100 Pounds :o I'd be happy with 100 ounces Image
I must admit fishing carp puddles is far to predictable, I prefer not to know what's pulling the float under every time Image
