Rolfs Friday 6th August
Posted: August 9th, 2010, 6:02 pm
Last year I booked the lake for a knockup on the Friday before the Maggotdrowning Pairs weekend and as everyone appeared to enjoy it I did the same this year. Apart from being able to get an extra days fishing in it gives us a chance to get tents set up and relax before the main event on Saturday. There were a number of last minute drop outs which meant we only had 18 fishing rather than the original 22 but thats no bad thing where Rolfs is concerned as the lower the number fishing the better it fishes.
I knew I was in for a disappointing weekend when the wife said to me 10 minutes before I left " Happy Anniversary dear" Oooooppppsss.

Too late to do anything about it now so I replied " Happy Anniversary to you too. See you Sunday night. " and made a dash for the car.

A reasonable 2 hour journey in the tail of the rush hour and just after 11 I was at the lake with the bivvy set up and the kettle on. ( Thanks for your help Terry
)
I wasnt surprised to draw a peg I hate fishing and have never caught well on Peg 14. (Ii said it wasnt going to be my weekend and I was proved right when i drew it again the following day.
)
After an uneventful match for me there were some reasonable weights with all four top weights coming from the top end of the lake. Simple was on form and took a well earned win from peg 26 closely followed by Red Leader fishing his new feederless feeder. Its not a pellet cone he insists because the pellet is not cone shaped.

Thanks to all for coming along and making it an enjoyable day.
