Next to Joe is Dave Angell and Jim Gear is on the right at the front.
Jim Gear was an excellent feeder angler on the Severn and the upper Trent. I remember as a kid watching him at Burton. He was a bit different to others in the way he cast a feeder on the upper Trent, he used a mitchell match and put a bend in the rod followed by a underarm fling, but he used to get in under the bushes by doing this, great to watch !!!

Roy Richardson 2nd from right. Joe was my hero when I was young and it is a privilege to have fished In the same team

Is it the Wolverhampton side whitmarines ? I took Paul Downes on the Trent last week and he had lots of stories from the old days. Was Joe the captain and also Gary Farmer fished for them.

Bought my first 'pole' from there - circa 1976.

It was a 6 mtr Shakespeare jobbie - like a piece of drainpipe at the 'butt' end
