i was waiting for chrisV to 'add a bit' too Bill - yep it was the Lea - a diesel spillage from a parked up tanker.

They boomed it to start the diesel spreading then set fire to it...........the year was 1981

It weren't the one I said TK but there was a fire, think was loads of rubber tyres on the banks of the Lea. That were around 1960., def at Tottenham
