Abu Garcia Wychavon Championship Qualifier - 22/06/2010

Sunday June 20th
Warwickshire Avon - Evesham Town Waters and Hampton Ferry
65 pegs

Rich day for Richie!

After an excellent match the previous day it was a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show as heavy boat traffic coupled with baking hot temperatures and a clear river saw just 3lb needed for a main frame place. Many of the sections won with low weights between 1lb and 2lb but one man who did find some decent sport was match winner Richie Reynolds.

A regular money winner at Evesham, the VDE Quorn team man fancied his chances when he pulled out Peg 35 and he fancied then even more when he realised that Peg 36 hadn’t been drawn! Feeding steadily with bronze maggots and running a very lightly shotted waggler from the middle to two third across he was soon into fish and his 9-3-0 total gave him plenty to spare over his rivals and also win him £200 and a place in the final in August.

Second place, with 5-8-8 of small chub and dace fell to Kevin Millard at Peg 2. Like the winner, Kevin fished mid river with waggler and bronze maggot.

Third, at Peg 64 with a 4-9-0 tench taken close in on worm was Welsh visitor Clive Branson, fourth was Daiwa Gordon League’s Brian Pollard with 3-13-0 of small chub from Peg 33 and fifth was Preston Innovation’s Ed Warren with 3-8-0 of eels and perch from Peg 51.

Qualifiers: Kevin Millard, Richie Reynolds, Clive Branson

Next Qualifier: Saturday June 26th - bookings through Diana Raphael on 01386 442458

Thanks Bill !
It's smack opposite the Isbourne mouth mate.
You cannot fish over to it as its full of weed and snags, but there is a channel down the middle. Image

Abu Garcia Wychavon Championship Qualifier
Saturday July 17th
Warwickshire Avon - Evesham Town Waters and Hampton Ferry
60 pegs

Roach winner for Richie!

Strong winds and a very clear river again made life difficult for competitors in the latest Abu Garcia Wychavon Championship qualifier at Evesham but in form Richie Reynolds (Quorn VDE,Wigston,Trentmen) made a mockery of the conditions to run out a comfortable winner from unfancied Peg 58.
Working with lightly shot pole rigs from 0.30g to 1g and Richie fed steadily with hemp and tares from the off and used the same on the hook to land roach up to the 10oz mark for a 13-15-0 total.
Second place went to a more fancied swim in the form of Peg 35 where Dave Partridge (Warwick) worked hard with a waggler and bronze maggots fished well across the river for a good net of small chub and a 10-2-0 total.
Third was Steve Pierpoint (WB Clarke) from Peg 22, one below the bridge, with 6-9-0 of hemp caught roach and fourth was Ian Shepherd with another hemp caught roach bag of 6-3-0 from Peg 1. Making up the frame with 6-2-0 of hemp roach from Peg 30 was Alex Powell.

Qualifiers: Steve Pierpoint, Dave Partridge, Leigh Gardener

Next qualifier – Sunday July 25th – bookings through Diana Raphael on 01386 442458

Rich vein of form continues! - 26/07/2010

Shakespeare Qualifier, Saturday July 24th - 59 pegs

Rich Reynolds' (Quorn VDE ) rich vein of form continued with a 13-0-0 catch of hemp and tare caught roach from peg 35 on the Isbourne confluence. His third double figure roach catch from the stretch in three weeks generated widespread applause as his dominance of the river continues. Fishing 14 metres and a long line Rich picked off fish up to 8oz edging through a lightly shotted rig.

Chris Smith (Wye Angling) caught 8-8-8 of redfins from peg 48 on hemp for second. Chris just had the edge on Trevor Chalk (Evesham) who caught 8-6-0 of big roach in a short spell on favoured peg 46. Shakespeare's Tony Skinner caught perch early before getting the roach going on hemp at peg 20 to weigh in 8-2-0 and bag 4th place.

Qualifiers: Tony Skinner, Chris Smith, Paul Priday

Shakespeare's Michael Buchwalder on shallow peg secured victory with a 8-2-0 mixed bag consisting of two decent chub, a few perch and some quality seed caught roach. Showing his versatility at peg 66 Preston Innovation's Ed Warren caught eels early and roach late to net 7-3-0 and fourth place.
