Poor old Dave,
Off on his holibobs today, and he's just rung me to say the car has expired. :(
He's sitting in a Toyota Dealers reception ( I think he said it was in Honiton) waiting for his cousin to come and pick him up as they can't look at it till Monday, but it sounds like it could be expensive.
Poor bugger will just have to sit and fish for 2 weeks solid and hope they can fix it before he's due back.
It gets worse, the garage have been in touch, they reckon it needs a new engine, but they haven't stripped the engine, but if they do strip it to confirm their diagnosis they want £800 labour.
They reckon a new engine will be £6000!!!!!!!
Needless to say Dave is exploring other options. at the moment.
John,
The dealer will only be able to tell if they strip the engine and they want £800 just to do that.
It's a 53 plate car I think, so is well out of warranty although it's done under 60000 miles.
Dave did mention that it's had warning lights flash up intermitantly recently, but he hadn't had it checked prior to going away. :(
Spoke to him today and it looks like he may be doing a deal for a new pre-registered car the dealers have on their forcourt.
