i fished a evening match last night 14 or 15 of us on the Leicester mals silver pool lake at seagrave ideal for me as its only 15minutes away its more of a natural lake than a commercial with over hanging trees and reeds [no good for you bill ]its got plenty of carp in it and skimmers plus loads of roach and with three islands in the middle there is plenty to go at the pegs were spread out and being the first time i've seen it every peg looked pretty good corn and meat are the best baits with a bit of method fishing as well and paste fishing the islands are a good 16 to 20 metres away at one end and anything from 8 to 14 metres at the other
at the draw i pulled out 4 ok looked good but had no breeze on it that was heading up the other end of the lake on the other side of the lake th e surface had a lot of scum and fluff on top so it wasn't looking to good at our end
i fished 14 metres to the island but couldn't get too close because of the roots from the willow trees and the depth was perhaps a little too deep at 2ft but thats the closes i could go.i set a shallow rig up and thought i could loose feed and get them up in the water
it started off well with a carp of 4lb followed by a smaller one and one shallow then disaster i foul hooked a big boy for about 10 minutes ending in disaster and a lost fish i returned to the far line but couldn't buy a bite whether there isn't that many carp at our end of the lake or what but the chap to my right hadn't had a fish until the last 30minute when i added one more to my tally my fish weighed 11lb
the other end fished really well and i made sure i went on the scales so i could see whats what for my return trip 41lb won the evening with 29lb and 26lb third its not a prolific fishery but plenty of fish were caught
better luck next time
