well i must say with commercials like eye kettleby i could get used to fishing them more
its really come on since the days of the fish-o-mania clean and well maintained with a lovely wooden lodge with a bar and restaurant
the lakes have been stocked recently as well
for saying it was only a knockup it turned out to have 30 good and anglers on it and drawing next to stu killen it was going to be a keenly fort battle
my peg was the better of the two with a spare peg between us and to my right was the end peg with adam nurse on it with the wind blowing into the corner memories of Holland again i had drawn a peg with a bare bank and really fanced it but it was fourteen and and half metres across still it was the line i fanced as i new adam would fish the margins
i'm bbye far not the best commercial angler in the world but i enjoyed the day.starting on pellet only to find loads of roach and rudd nicking the pellet so i moved to banded pellets which did bring some small carp and a few skimmers but i always felt i hadn't got it right and with the wind the presentation was hard and i remembered pete caton saying if its not dead right for pellets he'd turn to maggots trouble being i hadn't brought many not enough to feed off the small fish i had got worm and caster and also sweetcorn :-/which bait was going to the one to change the day
i could see most anglers catching but all had adopted different methods from margins to middle even pole method so this was it i'd made my decission corn reason behind it was the wind seamed to be taking everything to my right and i thought corn is quite a stable bait that you can hold to i tried just depth off and 3inch on andthat was the best way i felt as if i could do a weight going into the last hour as it was one a bung still the end peg had caught really well so i new a couldn't stop him if only the match had gone on another half an hour
this is why commercial anglers are so far in front me they would of made that choice at the start still i managed 37lb 11oz for 4th and a section win :-/but deeply thought i should of won the match or second
still everytime i fish a commercial i've learnt loads and can always do better
my net of 37lb 11oz al the fish in purfect condition
and adams winning bag of 58lb 5oz
the result
1ST ADAM NURSE WIGSTON 58LB 5OZ
2ND GARY SMITH LEICESTER SENSAS 48LB 1OZ
3RD AARON WELLS LEICESTER SENSAS 46LB 4OZ
4TH JOFF WOODGETT LEICESTER SENSAS 37LB 11OZ
5TH PETE JAYES WIGSTON 34LB 5OZ
everyone had double figurs as well a great day out
