Match costs !!!

As some of you know I like to spend alot of time at Evesham in the summer (rightly or wrongly !)
Anyway after talking to Steve Pierpoint and Leigh Gardener about this season's changes mainly allowing Bloodworm and joker in August it struck me what an expensive month it will be !
Here;s the list per match ;
Diesel £20.00 (Based on 120 miles round trip)
Pools £25.00
Blood and Joker £15.00
Groundbait and leam (3kg groundbait,1kg leam,500g grey leam) £15.00
1/2 kilo worms £10.00
Lobs (if cannot get any !) £5.00
1 pint casters £3.00
2 pints maggots £5.00
1/2 pint pinkies £1.50
1 pint hemp £1.00
Pellets £1.00

Total £101.50

I know may be some baits may not be used and will be saved for the next match, but if you said £170.00 per weekend, then times that by 4 = £ 680.00
I have not included any food and drink, or tackle bits and bobs in that !!!!
This is getting very expensive in deed !!
Any thoughts (other than I am mad thanks !)

Your bait bill alone would buy 2 X 25kgs of Skrettings which works out to around 150 pints of pellets which should easily cover a minimum of 15 commercial match bait requirements for pellets and paste, and people wonder why river matches aren't as popular as they once were. :(

We're probably fortunate that down south very few fisheries have gone down the 'Fishery Own Pellets' route as yet. ;)

simple don't go.

why would u want to take all those worms and maggots etc if ur taking joker????
after 2 months of bucket loads of worms and maggots etc going in the venue.
i will be taking mainly joker, english bloodworm and pinkees thats it. 2 bags of gb and half leam/molehill.

you think thats dear the dutch have to travel every week from one end of Holland to the other for decent matches and the fuel is the same now over there in fact its cheap to drink here eat here and tackle is a lot cheaper here
we had a meal on the boat cost £18 English sterling the same meal cost you 24 EUROS Image Image
beer ranged from 4.00 euros to 5.50 if you had a chilled glass :D :D
you really noticed a lack of dutch in the pubs and restaurants in fact all over van hank said lots of dutch anglers can't afford to fish anymore in the end only 7 dutch fished

You're right about Holland Joff, when I first went about 8 years ago it was cheap beer and food, Tackle was cheap and we used to bring loads of stuff back. Also the groundbait was peanuts compared to this country.
To be fair some stuff is still ok but all the stuff imported ( Preston, Dynamite baits pellets for example) is expensive, more than UK prices.

I don't think pools are excessive nowadays, there doesn't seem to be a big difference in what I paid years ago.
I don't know what is paid for pegging fee's on natural venues now, but commercials are probably on average £6/7, that is a big difference.

For me it's the travel and bait costs. There are no decent matches near where I live ( Derby, trust me it is abysmal, (any Millionaires out there want to build a commie in Derby!!!!!)) and we have to travel, I go to Blythe at Solihul and Makins which costs about £15 a time in diesel, if prices carry on one of them is going to have to go!!

( lots of good canal near us, i'll have to get Joffy over and help run some matches :o :o :o)

i think the standard of living in Holland has seen a far greater increase then over here over the last couple of years the digs were full of Georgie's working for BP they got pack lunches a cooked meal at night and on a Sunday a few free beers ;) ;)so you know where we stayed on Sunday Image Imagethanks BP mind-you you had to talk about Newcastle Image Image
still it looks like our V.A.T will be going up its this rate that has stopped the dutch going out as much the other big plus is the traffic over in Holland is far less than over here i must of seen more cars yesterday than i did all week ok Rotterdam was busy but the local area was very quiet

my comment made sense.
if ur worried about the cost of the above match etc. stay closer to home on a venue which u would'nt spend as much money. simple sense in my book.
