Can only guess Bill - to enable the peasantry space to move out of the way when the lorded gentry galloped across.....?

or to allow packhorses to cross?

Are the triangles there so Lord Lichfield could get better angles for his dolly shots?

TK.

Your bang on there me duck. It is an actual packhorse bridge. Those triangles are there so folk can get out of the way.
It is nearly 500 years old and is definitley the longest exising packhorse bridge in the country.

It was reputedly built so the landed gentry could cross the river and do a bit of shooting.

Just for interest they were catching a few fish there at back end; one guy had a bream of 3 lb so some fish must have escaped the cyanide pollution.

End of history lesson. ::) ::) ::) ::)

If anyone knows Stafford what was 'The Leaning Tower of Beazor' and where was it? :-X :-X :-X
