Well here you go.....................
What would Grueller 5 bring along?
Saturday morning, BDM turns over from his golden slumbers and looks across at the alarm clock………..7.53am…………..bl**dy thing hadn’t gone off
Was this an omen of things to come……….?
A dash around getting this that and the other together and BDM leaves the house at 8.12am, only 15 mins late.
BDM arrives at RPS to be greeted by a line of cars already waiting. HaHa flags him down…….’The Cashmores have rung, their cars broke down on the way’
The line up, already depleted by the absence of
MrV on one of his regular jaunts up to Scotland
Tigerbay………possibly still looking round the pole alleys
Drynet looking forward to a battle with the gooners instead
is now another two down.
Onto the drawbag. 16 fishing and. Tales are already being told to the few new faces fishing the KP for the first time about the potential of pegs 1 & 2.
Pegs come and go……….. I suppose there are no real surprises here when Yamo continues where he left off and pulls out peg 1,
with new comer Phil H on 2.
Well that’s the battle for A section sorted. Some smiles, some groans follow. Phil B not too happy win peg 13, HaHa looks chuffed with 11.Down to 3 in the bag, KOD, Wedgey and BDM still to draw. KOD dips in, end corner 14, not bad theres always a few chub to be found down there………getting them out is another thing. Wedgey is reluctant to draw next and finally ends with 7, having it drawn for him.
That leaves BDM on 16, facing upstream looking at the gusher. Interesting, BDM’s never fished that peg in all the time fishing the KP and looks forward to the challenge. Whilst 16 always throws up a few fish, its going to be difficult to beat the corners pegs in section D. A quick look at the draw and B section could be anyones, HaHa must be favourite for C section sitting on 11.
Water levels down a bit…….looking at the water mark on the stanchions. On 16 there’s a couple of obvious places to fish to – over hanging bushes and tree to left and right.
A plumb around into open water ……….my it is shallow, but the plummet reveals a little feature.
Whistle goes, BDM feeds 3 lines with a touch of gb to introduce a bit of scent. A few roach and bottle tops come off line 1, lines 2 and 3 (left and right) throw up 1oz chublets to the left and only gudgeon to the right.
Half way through………..HaHa off for walkies. Must be struggling thinks BDM.
On his return he informs that Yamo is struggling off peg with ‘about 2lb’ – that’s probably 5lb and Phil H is having a few off 2. Everyone else is struggling.
1.5 hours to go……….dark cloud approaches and it starts raining. BDM reaches for the brolly. S**t – it’s still in the garage……….that’s rushing around late.
Fortunately only a shower, but hundreds of pinkies make their escape. Sun comes back out so time for a few pickies of the new faces in attendance. On the way round, Zorro owns up to 10 gudgeon off peg 12, Phil B has snared half a dozen chublets off 13, KOD and Heinzer are struggling in the corner and Heinzer’s having a mare, 4 trashed rings
Whistle for end. Pack up. BDM owns upto 4lb – quite happy with himself having fished a decent ‘tight’ match although his 0.006 had parted company with one beastie late on.
Scales come round, Zorro takes his 10 gudgeon to the scales which take it round to 3lb odd – now where have I heard the old ‘I had em in the last 20 minutes’ routine from LOL
It’s been harder than usual down the straight heading back to the brambles. Poor old Cotti…….top of the leaderboard before the off returns a DNW
as he’s lost the only fish he hit, a decent dog roach that came off the hook. Gerry has also been seen off a couple of times by beasties, and Ball it in Baker has also been brambletised.
Well we always knew it was going to be a battle between 1&2. Phil H puts a creditable 7lb 5oz on the scales………..well done for a first timer.
Yamo walks it though with a level 12lb……well done, you know they are generally there, but not always, but you’ve still got to get them to bite and then get em out.
Onto the inlet and outlet for match 6........
