Sorry TK, didn`t realise you wanted a reply-----

Anyway obviously I`ve drawn the peg as the pic is of me playing a fish (barbel).
Luckily I drew it on the div 1 national in 2004 and after fishing a national every year since 1983 I finally had a chance to fulfil mine and many other anglers ambition of individual glory.
However drawing a flier is only the first part of the equation, the rest is down to nerve, a modicom amount of skill and of course that the fish are willing to feed.
The peg is situated within 100 yards of the weir sill and its not for the faint hearted, its tidal, can flow at a fast rate and a bit snaggy. You need stout tackle to bully the fish away from the rocks and debris in the centre of the pool, on the day I used a strong barbel rod (1 3/4lb test curve) 10lb mainline with a 10lb hooklength and a strong, forged size 14 hook. Bait was 4 red maggots with a 2-3oz open end feeder filled with fishmeal gb, micro pellets, casters and hemp.
when I got to the peg there were 4 anglers bivvied up on the floodbank behind the peg, they had fished the night/early morning and had caught 10 barbel to 9lb prior to me reaching the peg.
When the match started the tide was ebbing and the surface was a mass of foam, for the first hour I was biteless, however I made sure that I recast every minute or so to ensure that I got some bait in. After the first hour had passed I had a slight indication then on the next cast the tip dropped back and I hooked my first fish, which turned out to be a bream of about 5lb. This was the start of the flood gates opening and during the next hour I had a further 9 bream and barbel and I knew that I was on for a possible win. The rest of the match was quite easy and as long as I kept hitting the same spot with the feeder I would get a bite, sometimes the feeder wouldn`t even touch bottom as they were taking it on the drop! I only lost two fish that day, both to snags so all in all it was a day to remember as I weighed in 160lb.

I shall be fishing the national on the trent this year and previous to drawing the Cromwell weir peg, I had fished two other trent nationals during the eighties and on those occasions I drew the same peg, which was on the gunthorpe bank opposite the cherry orchard, so I`m keeping my fingers crossed that lightning may strike twice and peg 1A comes home to daddy!
