I did not fail to catch though. They had just stocked thousands of fingerling chub and the owner had asked that we didnt put any we caught in the nets, so like the good boy I am i put mione back unlike several of the others.
I also spotted a goldfish/orfe stck on the bottom in front of me so dropped a bait to it. It sucked it in but when I landed it it was obviously very bloated and sick so I just put it back.
The owner had given us the pegs up the far end as he said the fish had been up that end, however he didnt mention that there had been cormorants on the lake which had chased the fish down the other end. >:( Image The fished gradually moved back as the day wore on and you could see guys start to catch as they moved along.

Now guess who had drawn the corner peg round the dogleg and was furthest away from the fish. The fish reached there about 5 past 4 shame the match ended at 4pm Image Image Image
I ended up dropping down line strengths and hook sizes in an effort to coax a bite not worrying too much as most of the carp were only around 1lb. Guess who then hit into one of the very few bigger fish in the lake and got broke. Image Image Image Image

If you think Bill Yards uses crappity smack a lot you should have heard the abuse I got from my ex docker dad after the match.

" crappity smacking call yourself a crappity smacking angler and you cant crappity smacking weigh in on a crappity smacking  easy lake like this and getting crappity smacking beat by all these crappity smacking pensioners."

Not only after the match but in the car all the way home and then to anyone who would listen for the next 2 years. Im sure if I mentioned this thread to him it would start him off again for the next 2 years. Image Image Image Image

Pathetic set of excuses, For god sake man admit it you were crappity smacking sh!t on the day. Image Image Image
Dave's Dad: " crappity smacking call yourself a crappity smacking angler and you cant crappity smacking weigh in on a crappity smacking  easy lake like this and getting crappity smacking beat by all these crappity smacking pensioners."

Obviously a shrewd judge of an angler, your old man Dave. Image

Some mixed memories from that day Pete. It was the best Mash AC result for both Bob Hucker and my dad. Sadly Bob is no longer with us and it was one of my dads last days fishing as he only managed a few days out since then and is not fit enough to go now. :( :(

I don't know how many of the clubs old results you have Dave, though knowing you, you've probably got them all somewhere ;).

Perhaps it would be an idea to publish them all on here. It would make a nice record of the history of the club, and hopefully preserve them for all time. Image

Well you might remember this one which I think was your second venture with Marsh.

Or even this one your first ever outing with Marsh drawn on the flier peg if I remember correctly. But I may be wrong.

Very true Kev. While there appear to be a lot of guests in those days they were mainly our regular guys but as they didnt work for Marsh I had to call them guests.
The company paid for the hire of the lakes and the guests paid £5 every trip, which went towards things the company wouldnt pay for and provided our current financial reserves. ;)

The 1st match you mention I remember only for the fact that you drew the cock peg yet again  ::), while I managed to save my day after skillfully battling a double on a 2lb botton. My report can be found HEREImage

As for the 2nd you mention, I certainly didn't draw a flyer, but seem to remember you drawing the willow  ::), In fact I spent most of the match getting to grips with trying to fish paste  Image. Once again you can find my report on the days events HERE. ;)

From our current list of 22 names 16 have been fishing with us since those results and most were also fishing for many years before.

Jim and I were in our first ever inter company match between Bowrings,Sedgewick and Minets. It was from those match that we started the Brokers Cup around the early 90s. Its still running but with less companies due to the many takeovers and budget constraints in the Insurance industry. We did get to a pinnacle of 16 teams of 8 at one stage though. Image

the fact that you drew the cock peg yet again

I beg to differ Mr Mugger the cock pegs are 1, 7 and 8 ( Yes Roberts due yet another flier). I was probaly lying last with around 12 ozs with just over an hour to go but using all my skill and experience came from behind
to mug you all. Im convinced you learned how to conduct a mugging from what you saw on that day. Image Image

As peg 1 didn't weigh in I think we can safely say you nicked all his fish by casting into his swim. Image Image
