Not a bad night and hats off to the winners and those that attended. Image

However.............

One to ponder........and yes I've raised this 'question' before

A couple of statistics for your consideration......cuss according to my calculations

Only 37% of the members attended the presentation

A further 11% turned up after the presentation

Do your sums and that's less than half of the membership :(

Looks like Heinzer has a number of trophies to assign to his loft for (at least) the next 12 months - makes a change from them lying in my garage

Trophy and engraving cost = more than the cost of the annual canal lease

Makes you think doesnt it :-/

I enjoyed the night, having not attended one before.

A lot of effort goes in and I appreciate it.

After a fit of laughter when I completely lost it laughing wise, tears the lot ... I decided the only way to pull myself together was to get off home Image Image It really was.

Boy is it good to laugh like that. You always remember it :D

Thanks to all who attended and made it work

and thanks for the trophies Image

I think I speak for the whole of the Cashmore's membership when I say thanks to TK and Heinzer for the work involved in putting together the Presentation Evening and thanks to Harrisons club for being our host.
I can understand TK for being dispondent when less than half the membership turn up to what should be the highlight of the year. I doubt whether any Angling club could beat the array of trophies we have to offer and now that some of the older ones have been re silvered etc. we have a display second to none.
It would be a great shame if the Presentation was axed through lack of support. So come you guys, show your appreciation by attending next years event if at all possible.
Thanks must also go to Gez for doing a sterling job with the trophies over the last few years.

Not a member, so maybe not qualified to comment... but I will anyway.... Im in a similar sort of club... ie trophy based not a "cash based" club.... and the trophy night is THE night,I have to admit, if Id organised one,, and the turnout was so poor ( less than 50% , come on boys) Id be well miffed... maybe a case, as so often happens, of peoples hard work being taken for granted? Our clubnight was In Blackheath, we the members travelled from as far apart as Brownhills ( me) and Henley in Arden... as well as one lad who came from Shard in Somerset.... so for a local club, your turnout is diabolical. ( Bet Ive made some enemies now, lol) ::) Image

Only 37% of the members attended the presentation

i think ours was about the same tk, granted about 80% of the trophies (we are a trophy based club as well) went to the same chap who was a cut above the rest all season,in fact it was a good job he was my doubles partner so i got my hands on half a trophy at least Image.

it is not just about who collects the trophys though its about SUPPORTING YOUR CLUB whether you have won the lot or nowt,
worst part of ours though a commitee member even forgot about it Image
having been on the original start up commitee along with snowie and the gaffer of the pub (who put up £500 to start us of) i soon found out how much of a thankless task it is and resigned after 1 season having had enough of the whingers and just went back to my fishing and helping out on the sidelines.

so get off your ass and support your club and your committee or you will end up losing it.

oops started ranting Image
i had to get up early for a match at larford lakes
how did you get on harry, got a matvh there in a few weeks, any info appreciated Image

Following Sat night when Brambles won the special award for his sterling efforts and membership during the year, ( Well done Mr Brambles  :D :D )
a few thoughts came to mind.

If i've got the gist correct, its for a member who hasnt won a trophy but worked hard at his fishing, been a great member etc.

Why not rename the award. We can do better than that !

Spontaneously off the top of my head, how about ...

'The Endeavour Cup' or 'Cashmoes Merit Award'

or whatever someone else comes up with.

It could be announced as an award for any one of, or a combination of, or simply all of the following ...

The award for a member who hasn't won a trophy during the year but has ..

worked hard at his fishing
been a great member
attended resolutely
part of the very backbone of the club
etc etc etc

...ladies and gentlemen, I GIVE YOU ..... ( member xxxxx)

followed, of course, by raputous richly deserved applause.

It's got to be better than the current designation !

C'MON LADS HOW CAN WE IMPROVE IT.

(Sorry about the 'we' it just came out that way  ;) )

The actual criteria is the "Booby Prize" is awarded to the member who fishes the most matches without winning a trophy [Team event excluded] and finishes lowest down the points table [should 2 members qualify having fished the same amount of matches.]

TK i haven't been to one of your presentations so i can't talk about what they are like. The price of 2 quid seems a bargin after what people have posted about the evening. If there seems to be a problem with most members not turning up would it not be worth while asking all the members why they don't attend and what they would like the evening to contain or be like ie a disco instead of a group or a comidian instead, or a buffet etc. I know how much effort you put into running matches so can guess at how much effort you put in to the presenation night and it seems unfair if people can't be ar$ed to turn up

TK i think its brilliant you still have a presentation night around this area club fishing as you guys do it has gone finished and i doubt if it will ever return
i'm match sectary still for quorn a.s but all our bookings are for clubs outside the area
so your members should really appreciate these occasions because once they have gone that will be it
keep going TK Image Image
