well yesterday afternoon i took the chance to have a few hours of river fishing before the end of season comes around on Sunday.I've got my favourite spots and most are park and walk as i never know how much time I've got ,in the winter i tend to fish 1,2,3 or at the most 4hrs depending on how i'm catching. I'd driven around a few parts on the way back from the other shop and the river looked a nice colour and not too much extra water more pace than anything
i went and sat at the waterside and within minutes I'd tackled up,i nice Pete warren stick float 5no4s strung out shot and 20s 511 its mainly roach there I'd only got bronze maggots I'd given the ducks the rest after fishing Sunday as they wait for me to come back at the gate
I'd spoke to a few walkers and one said he'd seen quite a few roach topping below the bridge i thought that was promising
anyway i took me a few casts to get my hand in ,but it went down lovely but no bites :-[in fact i didn't have a bite in the first 3o minutes
:-/lots of could bee's and was it's but no fish
i carried on and nothing really improved until my mate came down with a flask,i wasn't really bothered i just wanted to catch a roach on the stick float about 5 rods out.i don't think there is a better feeling when that float goes down at distance and the rush starts to take over, still it didn't :-/so i put the rod between my legs and had a chat and a drink.
as i took my second swallow the float buried a prime 10oz roach was in the net :-/i'l try that again just layed it in the waterand picked my coffee up but this time i'd be waiting
and sure enough down it went again another roach inits prime winter condition what a site and not a mark on them.well at least i'd caught my last winter's roach of the season i did have 5 all together funny how you can stumble on them thou
