Talking of Knowle and thereabouts... fished it quite a bit and plenty of fish... Zander anglers I see struggle.

Great to see that. Really miss the canal to be honest. Had some great bream fishing on there plus a couple of rare days when the chub appeared. Used to be some massive gudgeon too, til the Zs got them. Used to fish the 'three Dave's' matches all the time on there, weekends and evenings... Teece, Chapman, Harris.

Are they still dogging in the car park? :o

Dogging in Knowle   Image  Cor blimey guvnor lol !

Home by tea, me.

Had chub last year, under the brambles against the tins. Right game to get 'em out. Proper bream show too on the right pegs.

Used to fish it years ago when a club I was in had the Black Boy stretch.

Proper small country pub then, with a cracking
log fire... before they extended it and got
the caterers in.

Fantastc after a frosty winter match  :D .

I REALLY miss those matches at Rowington! Yet another big-match venue that's forgotten...

Strange that Rowington and Shrewley dont get fished much these days,20 years ago they had some great matches on there.Didn't Massey Ferguson own the stretch at Rowington ?
Always the chance of a bonus carp under the bushe's.

Massey Ferguson owned the Rising Lane stretch. Andy Bruce's Oriental AC owned the other half where the two canals meet down to the church. It all ended when the West Mids ATWL division folded. I think that had a massive effect on Midland team fishing in general to be honest.

After the AT WL finished Massey Ferguson AC, under the guise of a chap named Tony Hobday ran very regular weekly matches but the turnouts just faded.

Rowington /Lapworth used to stage lots of decent sized open match and as EP says various legs of the AT WL West Mids Div plus the then NFA West Regional Championships that I fished many times with over 300 in it.

To be honest the fishing was not great unless you landed on a pile of skimmers which was a bit of a novelty in those days. If I remember right most matches were won by the gas pipe with the bit by the bridge at Rising Lane generally filling up the places.
