Sorry Snowie - can't help with the parking bit - I've only fished it at the 'Fradley' end.
It was customary 'standard' cut tactics back then, with squatt, pinkie and caster and a bit of gb..........although we had a bit of a grueller as it didnt fish as well on the day as it had the week before!
Might be worth taking the punch and some of that red stuff

well the day that the railway tavern a.c season starts is fast approaching and it looks like our own curse is upon us with the snow coming down ,this is why we renamed ourselves the rainway tavern. with some new members joining our ranks, who will challenge our champ, will it be the usual suspects of obi or snowie,or will it be some of our new members like gobi robi or skelly. looks like we have got a hard start.on alrewas canal, hope i get a good draw and its the start of another good season for the club and myself.good luck to all in the club and see if obi can carry on his good fortune :)he as had on the gruellers
,hope we both improve on 3rd and 4th last season.

1st club match of the year booked on the T&M @ alrewas, not sure if i wanted this or not cos this cut is not my favorite just to many boats, walkers, cyclists etc.
Any way went out for last fag b4 bed about 11.30 last night and thought Mmmm quite mild might not be to bad after the ice breaking duties on tk,s
the last couple weeks.
got up 5.30 looked out the window to see 2-3 INCHES OFF SNOW
.oh well just wait for the phone calls.
1st one is snowie ....and he is still going !!!! man balls now i have got to go cant let him have all the glory ! next call steve to say snowie collecting the scales & permit and goodnight cos he is going back to bed
after a nice SLOW drive i was 1st there and followed by 5 others out of 20 orignally booked on, didnt take long to peg out/draw and i really fancied pegs 2 with a nice bg bush overhanging or pegs 3/4 on the turning bay,got myself peg 2 and was very happythank you
(and no ice to break that was all in peg 3 snowies )
4 lines plum, bed up 1 inside,2 down the track left and right and 1 across to the bush whilst watching clear the slushy ice from his peg which then came straight down and settled in my peg
which was then cleared by a very nice man in a barge
At the 1 pot of liccy far over and to left track and squatt to the right track and down the inside
1st hour flew by punch, squatt, pinkie, caster, kitchen sink the lot for a grand total of NOWT not a sniff
in fact the only thing moving was the 2 barges that decide to do u turn right in front of snowie
and the manic mallrds who i swear were on speed in steves pooles peg
any kept pluggin and finally float buried and a nice skimmer bout 6 ounce thank you then nowt for another hour so decided to chop some worm up and pop it in under the bush just as a local tells me its a chub hotspot ,left it to rest for 10 mins then straigt over with worm and bag straight under for anice chub of 1 1/2 pounds followed by a perch of about 8 ounce,by now a few of the lads were gettin a bit desparate cos they eventried puttin the bomb out just to try and hold bottom cos it was flowing like the trent in full flood !!
2 rigs trashed over the next hour due to the flow pushing them into which turned out to be snag city under the bush and that was it 3 bites 3 fish for 2lb 7oz sorry to say nobody else troubled the scales
By the time we left at 2.0 pm in blazing sunshine not a bit of snow left anywhere
sorry no pics trk busted pole last week busted the camera 2day the missus is gonna have man balls on a plate
