fished on Wryley/Essington
45 anglers
The match had to be put back to a 10.20 start due to the thickness of the ice.
On the whole the canal fished hard.

2nd Dave Berrows 7.7.11
3rd Jason Cunningham 5.7.7
4th Simon Mottram 4.6.6

I hope you're looking for a fierce wrap around bite else I really do think youre a womens wetter! For those that dont know I rang Lee at 9.45am to tell him no one down our end had finished clearing the ice and that it would be a decent gesture to put the match back 15 minutes. The blunt reply was 'so what' and it would start at 10am regardless. Thats exactly what we rushed to do at our end of the length even though NO ONE was ready... How about an apology? Grr!

I cant believe Lee never gave us our money back and said go and have an afternoon in the boozer, thats what a proper match organiser would have done aint it, Joff.

Im only annoyed cos we would've had more time to enjoy watching the policemen chasing the yobs on motorbikes!
...and I mightve not lost the section by 4 drams to a rotund Manc on the next peg if I was ready on time

What did you weigh in Endpeg?
The word on the bank when I arrived at about 12noon was that you were 'flying;' and had got about 60odd fish.
I did wander up in your direction, but stopped about 3 pegs away from you - thought I dare not risk skylining you and jeopardise any slim chance of getting DH's second hand MF suit off you
Was Bezza up in your neck of the woods too

Think all the weights bar Motters were in the 80-90s down the other arm. I only caught close and as the ice thawed the bites disappeared... until the last couple of minutes before our 3pm finish when i suddenly had a few roach again. Ended on 80+ fish for 3-4-4. I just wish I had an eztra 20 minutes...
Paul Hughes had 3-4-8 and lost a 1lb roach and another big fish so there were a few fish about, just too cold for them to feed properly. Strangely he could only catch long and down the middle whereas I could only catch close in. I just had the feeling the fish were in the shallower water as it was still 3-4ft on my long line and a dead silty bottom. In hindsight I needed to smash the ice even further out but i couldnt chuck my breaker any further. Still enjoyed it though
...and nice to see an even uglier Shakey angler with his name on the trophy this year!

me to in a sadistict sort of way i drew peg 53, preecey
came down to me after probley 40 minuetes not had a bite, he said he drew this peg in the practise open and blew out big time he said he only caught skimmers with roach catches around him....
when he came back i had a roach...i sat for the full match
i only had six bites two roach a perch and two skimmers for 2lb -4oz-12dr
lost one under the ice
so they must live there
