sadly ROY JEFFREYS passed away this morning after a short illness
ROY who seams to have been around for ever and a day certainly my hole life and respected throughout at the highest level ROY in his early days was a very good angler fishing along side the likes of billy lane and a young Ivan
but what ROY is best known for is commitment to young anglers he took LEICESTER JUNIORS to the top of the tree he took ENGLAND JUNIORS to international stardom anglers like Steve hemingray came through the ROY JEFFREYS school of angling the timeless work that Roy put in behind the scenes booking matches and always the meetings at the black bird pub often roy would go out of his way to pick you up even if it was across town and of course LEICESTER SENSAS[leicester AS] wouldn't of been half the team it is today and a lot of other teams up and down the country as well as juniors passed through the ROY JEFFREYS school of angling Roy right upto this year has put a team in our winter league without ever wetting a line himself his team was always called LEICESTER JUNIORS even thou the average age was 50 years old another passion of Roys was writing the angling column in the local paper the LEICESTER MURCURY again endless phone calls to make sure the results from every local match had been printed he always reguarded this as special he once said to me "everyone likes to see there name in the paper"and yes we do still to this day every friday its the first page we turn to and read
Roy will be sadly missed and my thoughts are with his family R.I.P Roy
