it looked like the rain might put pay to the river section so i did a spare draw for the canal and as i made my way to the draw i noticed that rothley brook was over its banks so i thought I'd read it right on arrive at the draw one or two of the die hard river anglers wanted it on the river still
so thats what we did
thank god bob gooseberry wanted to fish the river
off we went inmy case the canal not the best draw but normally early on you can catch a few fish before they move into there winter holes as i arrived at my peg 232 i'd noticed that the good pegs had been taken by dean guess and pete allwood :(so i'd be up against it on the right there was a chap with a massive grin on his face our very own chopworm it was already one nil to the choppie this season
so the banter started straight a way and before we new it we had put the world to rights and old mother nature but thats another story as we had 14 or 15 swans flying splashing and generally being a pain in the wobbly cheeks
>:(just ask pete scott after a swan flu through his pole while he was pluming up
anyone got a cheap 2,3 and 4th section

i'd set the normal 6 top kits which amazes some anglers but i like to do it just in case of any changes but after a hour in that blustery wind they were in a pile behind me
getting back to the fishing choppie was the the first to catch a nice roach was soon in his net
it took about half a hour before we both were catching well which surprised me knowing the pegs the left side are the flyers around the boat pub i'd put some joker up to the left something i don't do as the canal does flow a little to the right but with the pegs being so good i thought it wouldn't hurt as we only had one boat and i think this was my joker card for about two and half hours me and choppie were catching really well and quality fish yet to my left they were catching but not the same stamp as it started to slow down i said to choppie they have started to head back to there winter grounds and the reason we had caught was the colour they had spread out a little at this point choppie had gone really quite so i thought it was time to had a look to the left this line was quite strong and i had a extra run of fish but not of the same quality as my first line which i had topped up just in case they came back for the last hour choppie and myself could only watch the pegs to our left still catching and a couple were catching fast
not abite on caster
still at the weigh in choppie was first to weigh and at that point 4lb was winning the section chopie put 5lb 14oz of quality roach on the scale but i think he new it wasn't enough this time
but saying that the roach did weigh heavy as i said to him i'd got 7lb 14oz but when we weighed them it was 10lb4oz
and 1-1
dean guess who seamed to be catching all match weighed 7lb and pete allwood 8lb 4oz then gary smith with 8lb 10oz next to him roger marlow with 7lb 10oz and on the end peg aarron wells with 9lb6oz so it fished really well it was i nice days fishing in good company yet again [thats what its all about
]
the other section of the canal fished as good just the middle where the wind was bad that suffed
mark godfrey was top weight with 11lb 9oz and he said he'd of had 20lb if he could of seen his float [he should of gone to specsavers then
] 2nd in this section was jason scriviener with 10lb 1oz and third pete scott 9lb odd i think the lowest weight in that section was 7lb 10oz
