Although not actually Cashmores controlled waters there is an 'association' with the club as a number of the Cashmores membership are also members of Harrisons S&SC, which is also our 'home' for meetings and annual prize presentations.
Venue : Cannock Extension Canal (All) controlled by Harrisons Sports & Social Club, Wharwell Lane Great Wyrley WS6 6EU
Location: Lime Lane Norton Canes/Little Wyrley (B4154) running from A5 for 1.6 miles to the Junction of the Wyrley & Essington Canal at Pelsall Common.
Description: 100 plus pegs on this arm of canal predominantly in a rural setting which see’s little boat traffic. There are distinctive sections along the canal included a boat builders yard with permanently moored houseboats along with a sheltered length well protected by trees. Seeing little boat traffic enables substantial vegetation to establish itself during the summer months and hence the canal is noted for it’s tench, typically 3lb but reputed to run to 9lb. As well as roach, perch, skimmers and bream for the match and pleasure angler to target, specimen hunters also target large carp and pike that inhabit the canal.
Containing a rare type of weed, the canal is a designated SSI site and does continue to have a close season.
Season tickets are available £5 per annum commencing 1st Jan
Match bookings also welcomed

For those of you who never clocked this in Midland Angler several years ago...............

Obviously the contact details quoted at the bottom are now obsolete............and what a bargain it is to fish it these days - only a fiver a year, rather than £8 back in 2003

Although still subject to the enforced close season, over the last week or so I’ve received a number of renewal requests and indeed new applications for club cards.
The club card - still a fiver - includes 3rd party liability insurance cover for holders whilst fishing the clubs waters.
As a result, the number of cards available is limited, being a condition relating to the premium paid/cover.
Thanks to all of you who have renewed your cards, it’s much appreciated as it obviously helps pay lease and insurance costs.
I’m just posting this as a ‘reminder’ as I wouldn’t wish anyone to be disappointed
Tight lines

Did you have a bash on the Extension OBI
A club member who aint fished for probably 20+ years went down on Fri. Fished rod and line by the Grove Marina - he caught well - lots of skimmers and some perch.
I wandered down twice yesterday - nobody out and about at 8am
Popped back about 1pm, couple of guys there - there were fish topping all over the place
- watched the one guy for 10 mins, he was catching

went down last tues m8,fished the entrance to the marina also, plenty showing, had a few stripeys far over and finally managed to get the roach& skimmers going on the
eventually but it was hard work.
like i said b4 gave the hemp a good go but nowt not a sniff, which got me thinkin, are there more skimmers now than there was say 15-20 years ago and if there is maybe this has an effect on fishing the seed cos back then there didnt seem to be as many skimmers and a lot more roach,i could be wrong but it ia summat i have noticed since starting to fish the cuts again this last 12 months

might be the guy who i had a really nice chat with on tues,he sat on the bench with his missus, she was very interested when i was putting my catch back and commented on what a big 1 that is
the 1lb skimmer that is

Aint had chance yet OBI..........might sneak a day in next week
It was the canal you crossed on the way back to Harrison's Joffie and earlier in the morning when we had to change sections on the Wyrley & Essington
It has a closed season on it because of SSSI status, or else when the lock had been changed on our Forum match, I'd have moved us up there - loads of feature pegs and Bill would love it - loads of overhanging trees in the middle section.........been fishing well too from reports I'm hearing
