I used to go to Villa Park quite regularly when I was a youngster. A coach trip from Stafford to Villa and back, entrance and a programme cost me two shillings (10p) for the day out. It was the cheapest deal from here to a kid with only a bit of money!
Saw some great players at Villa. Well remember Gerry Hitchens who made it really big in Italy. He scored loads of goals at Villa from long punts up the pitch by the goalie, 16 stones Nigel Simms a terrific goalie and a big favourite with the Villa fans.
I saw the Football League play the Scottish League at Villa Park (the attendance was something like 70,000!) jimmy Greaves scored twice for the Football League, the only two times he touched the ball!
Also used to like the Doog in his younger days

PS
Villa were one of the BIG FOUR then.
If I remember right at that time they had won the FA Cup seven times which was a record then.
Happy times, plenty more to come

Yes, saw Hateley play. He was after Hitchens.
Can't remember seeing Danny Blanchflower but I probably did.
Peter MacParland was another top drawer Villa player; nearly forgot Charlie Aitken. They also had a very under rated half back, can't fully remember his name, John Sleuvenhoek or something like that, brill players all of them.
I suppose the best players I ever saw were Stan Matthews, Ferenc Puskas (unbelievable he was), George Best and Eusabio (Potugal).
Best goalie ever saw (by a mile) was Lev Yashin (Russia).
I met Derek Dougan once at the bottom of my road where I live! He was with Ernie Hunt (Cov) and they were guests at a function at Stafford Rangers; they couldn't find the place!!!
I still like to see Villa do well but have too many Stoke connections.

For the past few seasons the Premiership League table has virtually ended up the same as the League richest clubs in that order.
Going by that a certain team in a certain place at Manchester should win the World Cup, not finish a hopeful halfway up the Premiership.

it's not money that scores goals its skill, a quick mind and a good right foot [or both]
if you put a golden boot that costs thousands on it doesn't mean your going to score 100s of goals
much prefer the championship up blue army
there's no fantasy football league down there
