Well, what a disappointment that was :( I have looked forward to this match since our season started, but what a shocker it turned into.
I wanted a draw anywhere on the rowing club side and got one....part one of the plan successful. ::)
I had quality bait, which I thought was perfect for the day, caster, hemp, tares and maggots. ;)
(The last time I fished a Burton open, about 6 years ago, I drew 2 pegs above the peg I was on, I think Geoff was on it). That day I had 23lb odd of Roach and came nowhere. saturday it screamed Roach.
Started on the 4 meter whip and maggot. Fed hemp and caster 3 rods out for my stick line, and hemp and maggot 2 thirds over for my waggler line. After 20 mins on the whip,I had a perch, then another, then nothing for 10 mins.
Stick float line, 20 minutes, NOTHING.
Waggler line 20 minutes, NOTHING
Back on the whip, 20 minutes, 1 perch.
Fished like this for full 5 hours, and apart from one small Roach on the stick, and 1 rogue perch on the waggler, I caught my fish on the whip.
2lb 4oz total. :'( I think that is the lowest weight I have ever had off the Trent in 30 odd years of fishing it) But I still cant wait for the next one at Sherrats.
Sorry I could not hang about after the match, but I had a 3 hour drive to Scotland straight after for a party. (Half a bottle of Lambs soon makes you forget the fishing :o )
However. Back to the positives
Well done Yamo. Top performance mate (if we could sort you out on the cuts you would qualify as an all rounder )
The results are slow being posted (come on TK, get yer finger out), but that result should make the league table interesting. Well done also Yamo on winning the knockout. Plenty of consistent performances through the year earned you that Bad luck Worminator

Trent Broadholme
I aint got the result sheet MrV so can only post off the top of my head.
I echoe your sentiments - everytime I fish the Trent, barring adverse conditions I expect to do double figures of silvers.
The writing was on the wall for The Worminator in the knock out final before the off..........fancy drawing between the Bum Draw Master and KOD Ashhurst, Scotthorne, Nudd or Raison would stand no chance pegged between us pair
However 6 roach in 6 put ins (only small 1oz jobbies) had me thinking I needed to 'speed' things up and possible go onto the whip.
17 fish at 30 mins.....still ok, but still only about a 1lbs worth there.
20 fish on the hour...........struggling for bites :'(
A barren 2 hours
Scratted arround and finally was happy to blow the whilste, finishing with 32 fish for 2lb 8oz.
Around me (on our bank), The Worminator had 7oz to my right, Brambles dry to my left, KOD, Geoff, Cotti and Wedgey all did 1lb summat along with your 2lb.
Of the 3 lonely souls pegged on the opposite side of the island, Yamo obviously won it and HAHA was 3rd with 4lb summat, being split by Gez fishing below the bridge on one of the low numbers. Zorro also did 3lb down that low number end
So it's over to Yamo to divulge his tactics, rigs, baits, feeding regimes on how to fish the Trent
