Well, what a disappointment that was :( I have looked forward to this match since our season started, but what a shocker it turned into.
I wanted a draw anywhere on the rowing club side and got one....part one of the plan successful. ::)
I had quality bait, which I thought was perfect for the day, caster, hemp, tares and maggots. ;)
(The last time I fished a Burton open, about 6 years ago, I drew 2 pegs above the peg I was on, I think Geoff was on it). That day I had 23lb odd of Roach and came nowhere. saturday it screamed Roach.
Started on the 4 meter whip and maggot. Fed hemp and caster 3 rods out for my stick line, and hemp and maggot 2 thirds over for my waggler line. After 20 mins on the whip,I had a perch, then another, then nothing for 10 mins.
Stick float line, 20 minutes, NOTHING.
Waggler line 20 minutes, NOTHING
Back on the whip, 20 minutes, 1 perch.
Fished like this for full 5 hours, and apart from one small Roach on the stick, and 1 rogue perch on the waggler, I caught my fish on the whip.
2lb 4oz total. :'( I think that is the lowest weight I have ever had off the Trent in 30 odd years of fishing it) But I still cant wait for the next one at Sherrats.
Sorry I could not hang about after the match, but I had a 3 hour drive to Scotland straight after for a party. (Half a bottle of Lambs soon makes you forget the fishing :o )
However. Back to the positives
Well done Yamo. Top performance mate (if we could sort you out on the cuts you would qualify as an all rounder )
The results are slow being posted (come on TK, get yer finger out), but that result should make the league table interesting. Well done also Yamo on winning the knockout. Plenty of consistent performances through the year earned you that Bad luck Worminator
