I have a story about Spriggs'y, We used to fish against each other in the old Sundridge super League(pre Drennan) It was during a match on the Taunton/Bridgewater canal. He hooked a Tench with a few minutes to go and was playing it when his elastic snapped, He dunked the pole tip in the water and managed to tangle it around the broken elastic, then played the tench( about 2.5lb) and netted it after the whistle to beat me to win the section by a few ounces- Lucky Bugger!! As well as a good angler!
