Cashmores Match Group - club waters
Cashmores Match Group - club waters
Venue : Wyrley & Essington Canal Pelsall
Location: Norton Road B4154 Pelsall from York Bridge (Fingerpost pub) for 2km running west to Freeths Bridge at Fishley
Description: Cashmores AC control 101 permanent pegs 20 yards apart on this section of canal predominantly in a rural setting which see’s little boat traffic. There are distinctive sections along the canal including the ‘straight’ common (pegs 1-37) and more sheltered sections from Wood Lane Bridge (peg 38) moving west to Freeths Bridge.
Because of little boat traffic, the canal can be clear during winter months, but substantial vegetation – pads, cabbages and sedges - establish themselves during the summer, particularly on pegs 40 onwards.
The canal is noted for it’s tench, typically 3lb but reputed to run much larger. As well as roach, perch, skimmers and bream for the match and pleasure angler to target, specimen hunters also target large carp and pike that inhabit the canal.
Season tickets are available £5 per annum running from 16th June each year
Match bookings are also welcomed at £1 peg

Sun 18th April - Dana AC - 20 pegs at Wood Lane
The canal appears to have finally woken from it's winter slumbers and fished aok over the weekend with plenty of silvers and perch showing with a few tench too.
Heard a report of an impressive 'pleasure' bag of bream and tench also caught during the week

If I get wind of 'em KOD

Peg nos - what peg nos

Clubs now 'stick their own in' - often tighter than what spaces we'd allowed.
On this Sundays match with 13 fishing I only know two weights - 11lb 7oz won it, 4lb 13oz was second.
I know that 2nd place also lost a decent fish probably a tinca, at least two other guys had a tinca each estimated around the 3lb mark, and a couple were lost.......pegs past the bend on Wood Lane

Probably now that spring is upon us and with it the lighter nights, over the last week or so I’ve received a number of renewal requests and indeed new applications for club cards.
The club card - still a fiver - includes 3rd party liability insurance cover for holders whilst fishing the clubs waters.
As a result, the number of cards available is limited, being a condition relating to the premium paid/cover.
Thanks to all of you who have renewed your cards, it’s much appreciated as it obviously helps pay lease and insurance costs.
I’m just posting this as a ‘reminder’ as I wouldn’t wish anyone to be disappointed
