is it just a thing of the past or do anglers still fish the method on rivers the last time i put any time into the method was a semi final on the river don and on the day it was in flooded  Imagebut leading up to the match we had some good results on the bolo its a little like the stick and waggler most dont bother with anything else than the pole

i must admit yesterday trying to hold the pole and fish quiet a long line was back breaking and i thought why why didn't i have either one set up i'm sure a waggler fished down the peg with loose fed maggots would of caught as much if not more the bolo was another idea
i always come a way thinking what could of been  Image Imageone day i'l get it right  Image Image
i'm pretty sure running the winter league is not helping my own fishing at the minute as normally these methods would be set up behind me

Where i live in winsford joff is the upper stretch of the weaver where it flows a bit more, an in the winter time all the roach an skimmers cram into the red lion and marina sections where the best method to fish is the 20ft rod with a 3-4grm float its brilliant fishing, and its on fire at the moment. Other methods work to like 7mtr whip or just a small slider loose feeding casters or maggot. There are open matches every wednesday average turnouts are only 20+ but its worth a day out mate give it a go! Image

Joff, Most of the rivers down here are deeper than 10ft (a lot are 12ft+) which makes 'normal' fishing hard. I use a 17ft MAP ultraII rod and have it set up in a ready made holdall whenever I fish the Bristol Avon or Dorset Stour. When there is a bit of flow on it's unbeatable.
