Rough Hay AC Club Match

As asked by TK is the story of our adventures on the canal at the Cross Keys Penkridge ![smiley :)](./images/smilies/YaBBSmilies/Smilies/smiley.gif)
As normal the members met in greasey lils ( the food is getting worse )
15 members turned up as our so called carp puddle experts can't be bothered to fish canals as they can't catch above 50 lb that makes a lot of the regular members angry
as they quite willingly take part in the carp puddle matches anyway back to the match.
The lads who where pegging out made sure that there was a good distance between each peg so that we wasn't all fishing for the same fish.
I drew about halfway down the section in between a couple of trees no idea how it would fish as never been pegged in this area before, plumbed up to find the far ledge and found about 3ft just off the shelf set up a bread rig for this zone.
Next rig was a heavy duty one no 14 elastic to a red size 14 hook this was the chub basher if there where any present this rig was plumbed up around 2ft which was right on the edge of the trees, a third squatt rig was set up just incase.
At the off fed in a cupfull of chopped worm/caster/hemp just off the righthand side of the tree the lefthand side recieved a cupfull of casters/hemp.A really large cup of liquidised bread was fed just off the shelf and finally two golf ball size balls of groundbait super roach mixed with black crumb. First couple of swim downs on breadpunch nothing then a small roach about 2 ozs 5 minutes later a clone of the first one was deposited in the net then it was wait and wait and wait
.
After a fruitless 30 minutes decided to take a look at the left side of the tree stuck on a full worm the float had hardly settled then slid under and the elastic shot out normal chub straight in to the tree but i think with more luck than judgement i got him out a good 1 1/2lb that cheered me up next cast a dumpy perch then another at one point had five perch on the same worm (i'm saving money
).
While this was all going on i heard that another member about 3 down from me had landed a chub as well and as it turned out it was the first of three that he tempted out from right under a tree on chopped worm and caster anyway all to soon the all out was blown and the results are as follows:-
1 A Lake 1 9 10
2 K woodward 1 15 11
3 M Sutton 5 12 12 1st
4 J Parker 1 4 15
5 D Payne 2 0 3
6 J Bristow 1 6 2
7 A Shaw 3 10 13 =2nd
8 S Hartop 2 0 8
9 P Humpage 2 1 8
10 P Taylor 0 12 9
11 C Archbold 1 13 8
12 F Fletcher 1 6 14
13 B Sherrard 3 10 13 =2nd
14 B Jones 2 5 12
15 R Horton 2 4 3
Ok not very high weights but as a club match without the chub showing up could have been anyones victory which i personaly think is the ideal match not a match where the first person catch 100lb of carp and the rest have 20 -50
Hope this hasn't bored you to death
