Well I was looking forward to this match, but thing don't always turn out like you imagine do they....
I didn't want to draw peg 1 and now when I got again I don't want to draw peg 1 or 11  :D

I pulled peg 11 from the bag and took my gear round to the peg, which was tight as a mouse's ear!!!! tree's both sides. Not goods considering I wanted to give the pellet wag a whirl.
Last time I drew this sh!t side of the pool I caught on paste, so with that in mind I set up a paste and pellet line at 7 meters. A shallow rig and already had my pellet wag setup.
On the all in I cupped in a pot of pellets with a few small balls of paste and a pot of hemp and left it while I went on the wag.
Had to wait 20 mins for my first bite which I missed  >:( then another 10 mins for the next which I also missed  >:( So after a hour I decided to bugger that and try the pellet at 7 meters.
Dropped it in and had a bit right away which was a small stockie carp, I had looked at the sun and couldn't see what it was. I thought it was a perch  :-[
Now next put in left me bite less for 30 mins so I switched to paste. The paste settled and there was indications right away, it went under and I lifted into a lump. It was short lived though. It stopped moving and as I was shipping back it decided to take off and snapped my 0.17 line  Image Image

At this point I was well racked off, I had another rig made up so I popped that on and the depth was marked with tipex on my top kit so I was fishing again right away. 30 mins later nothing so I decided to go back on the wag, BAD IDEA !!!!!

Now on pools there are normally wildlife which live there, I.E. Ducks.........can you see where this is going   :D
I cast out and was feeding with my catty, I looked down to drop my pellets in and 2 ducks were right next to my float. Normally this would be ok but I was only 6 inch deep with my hook. I started to reel in to move it out the way but it was too late  Image
After a 5 minute battle and numerous assaults by the mother duck I had both mother and semi grown up duck in my landing net. I brought it up to get the hook out anf the mother bit me on the flipping hand and actually drew blood  Image  The hook was in its wing and been barbless came out easy.
After a lot of laughs at my expense I decided to give that up in case it happened again and went back to scratching my head  Image Image

Shallow is where I spent the rest of the match which resulted in numerous roach and 1 ghostie carp. The result 6lb 1oz. Fantastic   :D :D
After all my good results I came back to earth with a big thump :-/
Had big bad Bob on the next peg which provided to be good entertainment. He whoooped me with nearly 15lb.
The match was won with 23lb something from peg 3, fished by Tommo 'foul hooker expert'  :P Image

Apart from the parish match, this is by far the crappest match I have fished this year  Image

Bob and Sprucey playing KISS CHASE when I got there this morning :D :D

Had it in the last 5 mins too, was rushing to unhook it to get another but the whistle went  >:(
Tight peg for landing ducks, I know that   :D
BTW, the duck was returned unharmed. :)
