after the draw off we went to the pegs and NO phone calls
we had plenty of time to set up and plenty of time to realise how good the competition is in each section 
next to me was me old mate brad titmas we go back years and brad has always got the better of me over the years
and on the other side shaky's reserve just shows how strong shaky are 
was alastair chisholme top bloke as well so at least if i got battered i'd have a good banter as well 
anyway at the all in we all baited our pegs i thought i would fish chopped worm at five metres
first mistake i just thought i might get a bonus fish before the boats started either side had put G/B in and both went of like a train so over on my 10 metre line i started to catch but nothing like around me bleak mainly good size but no roach plenty of eyes anyway after while the boats started 
one after the other double boated a few times i was going nowhere as both could still catch at five metres around me so it was off to the far side a little earlier than i wanted to again loads of eyes yet no proper roach 
i'd feed caster and a hemp line so i quickly tried hemp only to fined a little bit better stamp of roach but i was looking at being 2lb behind plus rob wootton had caught a sturgeon 
yes a sturgeon it was 3lb i was that impressed i had to take a look what a fish and in perfect conditionanyway sat back down feed again and the canal stated pulling so i slipped a caster on held it back bite 8oz roach
this happened each time the canal pulled in between boats again and again i kept trying hemp but still only small roach so i upped the feed and it looked like i could pull back as brad was still catching but alastair had slowed down the game was on the peg got better when suddenly a boat that had gone on the wrong side of the canal decided to right its self right in the middle of the catching area so i just sat for a minute and just feed and when i went on the line i couldn't believe it a roach first chuke
the big roach had gone but the hemp roach 3oz to 6oz were coming right to the end of the matchjust got to pop off a minute
