well what can you say about the weather cold strong winds and buckets of rain all after one of the hottest periods this year :Dno wonder the fish don't know what they want to do feed one day sex another spawn another it must of been crazy for the teams practicing for the final
i took a trip down to barston on sunday but left it until the rain had stopped,a light lunch at the club house with yanny gary and mr drennan before setting out for a walk round .we thought we would go to packington first as we could come back to barston to weigh in [well yanny and nigel could]packington wasn't fishing as well as expected with big weights coming out all week in practice.still we could see dorking performing nicely with steve hemmingrey,simon wilsmore and diddy all catching the signs were already there after winning the day before and drawing mark ones peg from the day before which had seen them go into second place with a great performance on day one.
from there we headed back to barston where we found a lot of long faces and dry nets it was fishing rock hard and bonus fish were like gold dust no roach no skimmers and very few F1s feed .still most anglers were in good spirits [nigel had already loaded his gun ]still when fish want to spawn they will wether we like it or not and i felt for nigel [bring back the close season]
at barston team wise it looked very different with saints,DNWand trentmen all looking quiet good and as l walked up the road side i bumped into steve sanders and we had quick count up of points even the mighty dorking had a blank at barston still he also said at this point the other teams all had two or more so it looked good still for dorking bye the time we had walked around the final whistle had gone one or two had caught last minute fish so the result could of gone either way
after a pint the results had been sorted everyone new dorking had won the final yet it was the second third and fourth place that was the talking points around the club house
with it being a team match and on two venues the final had no individual winners but simon wilsmore had two straight section wins and won over willy wheeler who also had two section wins on weight
as i didn't get the first days results this is how it finished overall

2ND DRENNAN NORTH WEST 94 PTS
3RD SAINTS 100PTS
4TH MARK ONE 103PTS
5TH MILO BORDON 105 PTS
6TH TRENTMEN 117PTS
JOINT 7TH DELCAC AND BSI BOTH 121 PTS
9TH SHAKESPEARE 129PTS

simon wilsmore his match was all but over after the first two hours well with 39lb in your net you would look relaxed

and for the 8th time dorking with the trophy

and one very proud man steve sanders

i wonder if he will keep the trophy as he was last seen runing off into the distance

for once one man who didn't have it all his own way and can't wait to get practicing for the national was our very own

one sign of encouragement for match fishing was after the match peter drennan said a few words about the competition and is in full support of redirecting the super league format in the future[might be a couple of years] and all ideas are welcome

Because i`m not good enough and i don`t get on with a couple of them.

I did ask Steve Saunders we he didn`t ask me and he said that he new i wouldn`t join.
Also i had the best days of team fishing with Essex.
