fished for the likley lads after being in the team for five years he got his first chance on the seven and we all know what happened there

chris pebs had 69lb of perch in the autumn festival mindyou thats midweek i'm sure it was won with 89lb of roach as well mate

i'm working on it not sure if grumpy was in the team back then
phil coles was as one of the youngest competitors to fish at that level

Sorry to hear about billy backwater hope hes ok. I wasnt pete grumpy that day we had beaten the brummie superstars plus 2 ringers(ashurst + toulson) on their own muckheap -- great day

Leicester AS won by eactly 12 lb with 124-8-8.

So bomber didn't fish on the Severn according to that team sheet. So the main thread of this subject was wrong, does that mean Joffy got his history a bit mixed up

sorry mate sometimes we get things wrong it was around then perhaps you can in-lightness us when it was
but i thought phil coles was around

From memory I think Phil Coles won the National on the Bristol Avon.
He may have been the youngest to win it but certainly not the youngest to fish in it

It was easy to get confused as Leicester had two teams in that National on the Severn.
Leicester and District Amalgamated ociety of Anglers was the other one.

cheers bill some proper blokes on both team sheets i am so glad to have been around some of these lads it so different for young anglers to follow angling methods now who fishes stick floats,wagglers on a regular bases on rivers, and squatts and pole on canals feeder fish on powerful rivers
most of theses lads did them all week in week out
now-er days you have to stick to one venue to compete on commercials yes youngsters can do this and are very good at it but would they want to ever fish natural venues

i still see dave downes in the woodies and the year after stan was captain he left and fished for croft hacket or something
