Who's been sacking up..........

........on the Curley Wyrley today
Had a wander down Wood Lane today
Down in the 60's Messrs Nickless and Derry were having tincas and big black slabs in bags approaching the ton a piece.
Wandering back to the car a Cashmores member had set up in a supposedly 'not so fancied area' - peg 42 to be precise........well I know he's knocking on a bit and spose his legs are playing him up at his age.....
'Any good'
'Some silvers and skimmers' was the response.
I watched for 10 mins - a bite a chuck he was having.
'You'll need some 'stampers' next week - you wont get anywhere next week with them 3-4 ouncers, unless you have about 100 plus of em' I joked.
'Have you tried yet?, I said after looking at his bait tray which resembled what I used to carry and feed 20 odd years down on the Staffs Worcs and Shroppie.
'No'
'Used to stick all that in' I told him, 'now I'm frighten to death to feed an 1/8th of it'
Well it was a practise session, so I think disbelieving me, or was it just humouring me, in the lot went, whilst he carried on with a bite a chuck on the existing line, picking up a few decent 1/2lb plus skimmers.
15 mins pass. 'Give it a go with on the hook'
First look on the line, skimmer knocking the lb mark. Then another within 30 secs.
No bite then for about 3 mins. 'You've made me cock me peg up' just as the float zipped under. A battle for a few mins and a 3lb tinca is in the net..........he's got about 8lb already in 40 mins.
Couple of minutes later, tinca no2 puts in an appearance, but has got bigger shoulders and smashes the Cashmores man up.
Off I wander. 'See you later, I'll pop back in a couple of hours if you are still here'
About 3 hours later I get a call - 'I'm just packing up if you want to come and see what I've got'
I'm only in Blocko so off I pop.
Well our mystery angler has packed up and is waiting vigilently for me with his net still in.
Stacked out, he struggles to lift it as its contents thrash about inside.
Well there's half a dozen (or more) tincas, several small bream knocking the 2lb mark, double figures of silvers - roach, skimmers and some stonking rudd, all capped by the fish of the day............a big black slab that looked to be knocking the 6lb mark to me with a slightly smaller brother.
Who needs commercials with fishing like that on your doorstep?
Think this guy used think I was telling porkies when I told him about the quality of fishing to be had down there.......particularly when he was confronted by the on our last knock up down there.......
See Sprucey - I told you there was a few fish in there........and you daint even fish a 'c*ck' peg
