Willows evening match. 23rd May

Well my match was over as soon as I pulled peg 29 out the box :'(
Fished this peg before and did no good off it and tonight was no exception Image
I tried everything to get a carp with no success. All I had was 2 roach and a tiny carp :D
The big weights came from down the bottom end and the other bank to what I was on.
Still a lovely evening to be fishing though, weather was cracking.
A certain Mr V did well though Image Image
Well done Paul, I will let him tell you the details.

Not quite counting my winnings TK  :'(
Decided to give a commercial open a go, and I must say, a fairly decent choice of venue. Drew peg 15, which I hadnt got a clue about, but having been advised by SS that "wherever you draw, just fish the margin, only to your left though, and straight out in front, at no further than 6-7 meters" I set up 2 ricgs. Margin 18" deep, and a nice little flat spot, 3ft deep at 4 meters. I had dug my old Maver Strong Arm out for the match, as I had been told there were a few lumps, and didn't fancy risking the Exage. I had loaded a top section with 16 hollow laccy, which I had never used before  :-/ and the margin rig was on 14's solid maver laccy
At the all in I cupped a pot of hemp at 4 meters, and dribbled a bit of corn and meat in the margin. everyone else started in the margins, so me being me decided to start at 4 mtrs. After 10 mins I had a few signs of fish with liners. 5 mins later, bite, strike, and the hollow laccy nearly reached Simons peg about 40 yards away  Image God does that stuff stretch or what. Plays out a 5 pounder to the net, then the bugger decides on one last lunge, and snaps me under my platform   Image
Lesson learned, any more on the hollow, play them in the middle of the pool until the are gasping, before breaking down to net.
Anyway, to cut a long story a bit shorter, I finished up with 1 fish from margin and 6 from 4 meters. Weighed in 42lb 2oz for 4th and first out of money  ::)
Thoroughly enjoyed it though, and certainly buried the nightmare of Woodcote Image
