‘Stuart Conroy carefully fed small amounts of groundbait to win the Warrington match on the Bridgewater Canal at Thelwall with 8-5-0
He was close to the M6 bridge and got his first fish after 10 minutes and added four more in consecutive casts.
The fish were skimmers in the 1lb bracket and took bread fished at 9 metres.
At the end Stuart (Compleat Angler) had eight skimmers and ten roach and the four Kamasan points he got from the 80 pegger push him into the British Open with his brother Steve.
Colin Orr (Arundel Glossop) was on the silver birch tree where he pole fished caster for 6-9-5 which included a 3lb bream

First on the Broomhill match, it reads
‘The wind was so bad on the Staffs Worcs canl at Rodbaston that most of the pegs were moved to the more sheltered Otherton lock section near Penkridge.
The move paid off when Tony Cunningham (Fletcher’s tackle) caught more than everone else put together.
He had 20 carp to 8oz plus six roach all taken on caster from the Otherton length for 7-12-0.
John Watkins (BBL) was second with 1-7-6 of gudgeon plus a carp and two roach.
Steve Thomas (Fletcher’s Tackle) also had two carp and added two roach for 0-14-8, leaving Norman Bullock (Broomhill) fourth with 0-12-9 of gudgeon.’
