Just reading the match results in the Anglers Mail for week ending July 25th 1992........

'Paul Yates (Matchman Supplies) delivered the goods on the fancied Osiers stretch in the 94 peg Loughborough Soar Open.

Stick float and double caster on 2lb line straight through bough chub averaging 2lb then after half an hour fight he landed an 11lb 8oz carp.

He would have won without the fish, as he had 32-2-0.

Steve Roach (Shepshed Charterhouse) drew the Broen Weir section at Bonsers Meadow and alternated caster and maggot hook baits under a stick float for 17-12-0 of chub and roach.

Team mate Graham Elliot put up a great challenge to finish just short with 17-5-0.

His was a mixed bag on pole and bronze maggot from the Little Meadow.

Others
Terry Moroz (Daiwa Trentmen) 15-10-0
Bradley Titmus (Sensas Leicester) 14-9-0
Rob Jones (Quorn Shire) 14-6-0
John Shellard (Sensas Leicester) 14-4-0
Nick West (Long Eaton Fed) 13-10-0 '

In the same mag - probably reported by Bill ;) Digger Conway broke the (then) cut record on the Coventry Cut at Polesworth with 25-11-8

Some other good reports of matches..........and one thing is noticable.........

Those days were when matches were proper matches.
They had about half the pegging distance than today but all the competitors were interested in was enjoying their fishing not bullying
and blaspheming match organisers like some do today.

Too right Scotty, there were a few crap hole though!
Well done yesterday.

I would have gone to Shugborough on that match list; draw 5.30am and sold out virtually every match. Makes you think dunit.

TK, I well remember doing the reports then!
