Hampton Springs...... Has anyone fished it?
How the hell can anyone suggest this venue is suitable for a AT Semi?
It's the peggiest pile of poo I've ever seen and I can only hope deselection awaits me....
The rule list is sooo extensive and to top it all they've banned liquidised bread.... What's that about!!

Ive always like Hampton Springs Irk! Fished it loads with Tipton and one of the prettiest venues Ive visited. You really had to work for every bite although my Maver Midland chums tell me the chub and tench arent there in the numbers they used to be, which is a shame – i framed with 40lb of tench on caster shallow on Long Island once! Some of the rules are a bit limiting but its the same for everyone I suppose.
Not been for a couple of years now so perhaps things have changed. One thought, though, if Saints and Maver Midlands both fish it regularly in their respective ATWL divisions and always come out on top it cant be that peggy can it? I suppose the semi result will prove that or not as i cant see those two teams not going through otherwise

Thanks for the reply Jon, It must have changed a bit since your Tipton days, locals where complaining about the lack of fish, only willows "fished" with consistancy on the rest of the lakes competitors were resigned to chucking a bomb in and waiting for a disinterested fish to pick up a bait....
Saints angler on the car park peg on Rock went home after 90 mins saying he'd no chance of a carp and therefore couldn't compete, Paul Hughes said it was the wrong choice of venue for an AT semi, He'd been pegged on Long Island and due to the fact that it was fishing so crap had at least 10 free pegs either side of him as Wendy was desperate to give people a fighting chance....
As a result sections were split over different lakes (how fair is that to lads) and it was meant to be as they intend to peg the Semi...
Saints, Maver Midlands and Chester Tackle Locker will bosh everyone because they know the capability of every peg they will draw, how fair is that given that they qualified on the place for the semi?
Contrast and compare with Lee's efforts on the Walsall last year....
We know our place (probably last as it was lat year on the Walsall) but it does seem wrong that one of the leading competitions in the country is run in such a shambolic way..... oh and £17 (£7 peg fee) and over 70 anglers on Sunday.... not a bad days loafing for some.....

It was never particularly prolific back then either. Ive heard the carp are much bigger on rock now and the lead has dominated because of the temperature drop. I cant think why Hughesy would want the semi changed! Thought a commercial was his favourite type of venue

Don't know the nature of the venue mate
but i would always think that if i'm competing against an angler on a different lake in the same section as me, one of us would have a major advantage, u know yourself how spooky fish behaviour can be,
Things can be peggy enough on the same Lake ::)

Or did he mean that whole sections were on different lakes ..... if thats the case and i miss read it then yeah no problems
the way i read it was like some of a section is on one lake and some of the same section is on another

Well chaps..... Fished my first Commie match today goodness am I sh!te!! Venue is a concern, not one carp out on alice today only Willow fished yet again.... no doubt who will win Maver Midland picked up at least 5 sections!! Well done boys....
Doesn't alter my point..... This venue is not fit for one of the biggest matches in the UK angling Calender..... Yes..... They are intending to spilt sections over lakes for the Semi...... What is that about!!

Yeah i agree that is just wrong :(
Havin each section as a whole on different lakes is fair enough
but splittin a section over two lakes

If thats true, I agree splitting a section over 2 lakes is wrong. Cant understand how 8 anglers cant fit on one lake! I wouldnt worry about a lack of carp on Alice, though, as its full of quality roach and skimmers.
