After seeking legal advice i have found out that due to being the match organiser/ Lease holder on three canals i am liable for the competitors safety on my matches.
I have had a legally binding disclaimer drawn up but need a list of do's and dont's for the competitors.
Suggestions please.

how about making them Members Lee...then its there club and its there selves they are responsable to.....or put everyone on committee.... to be honest i am beginning to think is it worth it ...why dont we just run illegal matches like ll the others are doing..waterways doing nothing about that?

doe's and don t's wouldn't it be better to advise anglers
put a disclaimer on each weigh board and get the anglers to sign the board first that way you and the angler know that they are fishing your competition under your rules and advise plus the weigh board is already filled in
the big question is walking on ice[this is a very rare situation that we don't see very often nowadays] thats got to be a no no from your personal precision as lease holder
i can see where lee's coming from with this as a organiser for our water last year the river soar was risk assessed for safety and one of the first thing we had to do was break up unsafe pallets as if a angler falls off or in the river we as a club are responsible yet if he slips down the natural bank we would have far more cover
I'm sure once you put fishing platforms down by law you have to now have them risk assessed some of these commercials should take note going back to the ice remember lee you will be responsible for the ice on the towpath as well
this is a good subject as I'm having to do my own risk assessment for every member of staff and every job they do every risk a customer can come across in the shop its crazy but its for our own good if you are seen to be taking the right steps the more help and cover you get
IE mopping the floor how easy is that
1 staff should wear rubber gloves
2 cleaning materials should be logged just in case one of the staff has a reaction
3 signs for the wet floor must be in place a minimum of 3 signs
4 the mop bucket should not be filled with boiling water or have more than 5 litres of water in it
simple direct rules just to cover my back, you could say the world is going mad but at least I'm covered for that job.now for the other 200 jobs

also the amount of stick we get from anglers about flooded rivers
what do you call a flooded river ropas boys fish the tee's with 10ft on it
when i asked the question i saw told a rising river is a no no
a river with foot of water on it is classed as flooded
last year i called a winter league off the river and put it on the canal the farmers forecast for the Saturday was 95% rain rarely are these forecasts wrong but the amount of stick i had was unbelievable and boy did it rain

yet not one of the moaners said a word afterwards
and i think its these anglers that just don't understand the risk organisers have to look at before running matches
