Do anglers on here feel that bankwalkers spook fish during the winter months on cold clear canals, or do they feel they have no effect on any anglers catch rate ?? Image

Don't really effect them that much,if ur on a few it'll be good, but catching bit's on b/j is not hard really is it, on little canal's.Get on f1 venues proper fishin, that's why most canal anglers don't fish f1 venues,to hard to catch. :-/

I agree Fordy1.

Canal anglers like Jon Arthur and Paul Bick will never be able to catch F1's like anglers like you Image Image Image

Thats because you are scared of going to tunnel barn to fish against good anglers....

You stick to your manor farm knock ups mate Image

F1s are in the Trent and Mersey Canal at Weston. K section in the Div One National.
They are around 2 lb and from what I've seen they are a piece of yellow stream to catch and even easier to get out. I did a feaure there last year in the winter; the guy I was with had three on caster.
Repeat, piece of yellow stream, piece of yellow stream, piece of yellow stream.

Now trying catching 6 lb of bits.

Not such a piece of yellow stream!!!!

Anyway the thread has crappity smack all to do with F1s!

Yes bankwalkers can really crappity smack it up in winter; that's why i catch crappity smack all nowadays.

It is also not right that anglers 'dump' their pegs, go for a walk for an hour, come back and sack up. That was a regular occurence but thankfullt it don't happen much now.

Nice one Bill ;) Would it be an option to "ban" bankwalking in a team event Image

I know this was a rule when i have fished the FMS leagues.

You should fish them to NFA rules then it would stop.

Yes, I personally believe bankwalkers definitely spook fish! Particularly F1s in summer and winter. Its worst on any venue where the fish are not used to having bankside disturbance so busy towpaths are not quite so bad.

Dodge, It can definitely have an effect on sport in the winter days when the canals are 'gin'. After all who want a big ugly shadow appearing on the water at your peg when it is difficult to even raise a bite. Maybe we are a bit keen on this but I think it is best to be wise before the event than after it; hence the rule was in place for the old FMS League.
Owing to changing weather the cuts are not quite so clear as they used to be but it does happen when lock repairs etc are carried out.

It's a good point about NFA Rules. However, they do not organise matches in the depths of winter when the cuts can be clear, their match programme is complete at the end of the summer so the situation has never arisen with them. Image

crappity smack me if we banned talking to guy on the next peg I'd never fish another crappity smack match. I'd be banned.
