right last sunday i was drawn on the 1860 section of our winter league i'd drawn the same section earlier in the series and put groundbait in at 13 metres fished the match ended up 4th in the section yet never caught over the groundbait  the better lines that i caught on were all loose feed
driving home i thought what good is groundbait on a gravel bottom as soon as you put it in it just gets sieved between the gravel and disappears
this week my main attack was breadpunch i know the conditions were different yet seamed a lot better as the fish seamed to stay over it a lot better
i want to go back and have another go at the groundbait approach again but this time put more in at the start and top up more often just to see if they would stay on it longer
afew years ago we would catch over groundbait in most sections for some reason i feel the approach has got to change to reinvent the success that we used to have with groundbait
what do you lot think  Image Image Image

Wouldnt breadpunch or white crumb do the same? Think the colour and conditions have a big part to play.

yesterday afternoon i went fishing i managed 3 hours i fished the same peg as sunday as its not a long walk
its 3ft deep gravel bottom with a few holes here and there
i wanted to fish g/bait and pinkies
the flow was quiet fast so i fished a 0.8 float with bulk and two droppers
the groundbait i used was 50%sensas roach 40% sensas lake darkened and 10% pv1binder
at the start i put six balls in with a few dead pinkies in it i didn't get get a bite for 20 minutes but as soon as i caught a roach i put another ball in and so on every few fish as they came quicker
i know the light and the time of day was all in my favour the result was good 6 to 7lb in just over three hours
the plus side, the fish didn't move very far down my peg where before i seamed to have pockets of fish and had to chase them around the peg
on the other side is how many anglers would put nearly 3kg of groundbait in three hours Image Image Image
